nown to unknown Simple to complex General to particular Just In TimeThis is another set of content presentation and organization techniques that would deliver the content effectively.
At many times it is found that to present the whole idea first is more effective than presenting the parts one by one. This may be due to the fact that we perceive things as wholes first and then only look into the details.
It is also found that presenting the more important first is better than the reverse.
Since we humans have a tendency to remember things that have form or shape, it is better to present the contents in a concrete to abstract sequence.
An unknown cannot hold itself to one’s memory without it being tied up with a known. In fact, by defining an unknown what we do is presenting it in terms of known. Unless something is familiar/known, you cannot comprehend its meaning. So one should give the knowns first and make the unknowns knowns by defining them at their first point of use in the text (Just In Time JIT).
When you have to present complex things, present the simple things first and approach the complex thing through the simple things. Put your text in a simple to complex order.
If transfer of training is more important, it is better to arrange things with the general first followed by the particular.
